The item is as described. I purchased this to use for work. I have been using composition books for years to take notes in meetings as padded paper can get seperated and is a larger footprint than I care for. This allows me to keep my notes in order with a more grown up/ professional look. It is a thick leather cover that is cut and stitched together to fit a composition book. The edges are not seemed but simply cut. If you are looking for something more polished with folded seems for the edge, this is not it. It is hard for me to see that in the product picture or perhaps it's my bad vision. The stitching on the outside is a thick thread while the stitching on the inside is a thinner thread. I think this will last a lifetime even if you may have to mend a stitch. I say this because I can be rough with my stuff. If the stitching comes out it can be mended but the leather is good for life. The customer service is EXCELLENT! I received an email from the Rustic Ridge folks the day I recieved my product as a follow up to see how I liked my product and the experience I had. It was shipped from Amazon fulfillment. Unfortunately I had a tear in the packaging and an indentation in my cover. I sent them a picture and explained. They replied right away and sent a replacement along with a shipping update. I didn't have to make a big effort for them to get me the product in perfect shape and make me happy.I plan on giving one to my college student. He is stylish and would greatly appreciate this. He has a leather folio for his tablet. This is a great gift for a student, a writer, a note taker or anyone who would appreciate a journal.My wish... (couldn't find one)...is for it to have a pen holder and business card pocket. I give four stars because I actually thought it was a finished seem. If the stitches last over time I will come back and give it 5 stars. A better description would have helped. Obviously I will keep and use this.
